Parent Forum

Parent Forum

As parents/carers with children studying at AGS we very much welcome and value your views, opinions, questions and queries. In addition to the usual regular feedback we receive from you, in 2014 we created an AGS Parent Forum group to enable some parents to contribute in person to discussions relating to up to date issues, decisions and future planning throughout the school.

The group continues to go from strength to strength and comprises parents/carers representing all year groups within the school and meets on a half termly basis. The forum is chaired by Mr Glen Dallas, Assistant Head gdallas@hotelmps.com and is also attended by other members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and staff relevant to the discussions at hand. If you are a current AGS Parent/Carer and would like to be added to the mailing list for the parent forum and receive notification of future meetings please do contact Mr Dallas directly.

The parent forum has been a great way of sharing ideas and opinions relating to pertinent, up to date issues effecting AGS. It’s a good way to keep in touch with life at the school and to be able to contribute a parent’s view point to the wider discussions. It has certainly helped to give me a deeper appreciation of how the school functions and has made me more aware of the commitment that is demanded of staff and the wider community, to maintain its high standards. The meetings are relaxed and fairly informal and always involve a fair few cups of tea, coffee, biscuits and lots of lively discussion.

The Parent Forum is an excellent initiative created by the school that gives the staff the opportunity to discuss and get feedback from parents about topics ranging from the school vision, changes to KS3 assessment, E-safety, the AGS learner etc. It gives parents the opportunity to be informed and provide constructive feedback and influence on some of the school’s key developments. The sessions are relatively short, usually well managed, informative and relaxed. It’s a great way to be a bit more involved in your son’s education and gain insight about the school’s evolution.
